And just like that, six months after starting, another novel is done.
I trivialize the effort and attention this thing actually required, of course, but only in the name of pointing out that it took me six years to complete its predecessor. The disparity is entirely due to the degree of focus I was able to devote to this latest work. It’s not-so-astounding, the things you cannot do when you’re surrounded by people who don’t believe in you and an environment that wants you to be doing anything else. Also not a revelation but encouraging at the same time to confirm that, in the right place with the right people, I do in fact have it in me to do this work. I’m a writer, guys. I write books. You know what else I’m good at? Editing. Time to do some of that now. The work of getting this stuff out into the world…? That’s ongoing, but steps are in motion. |

congratulations!
Thank you! 🙂
Bravo! Are you self-publishing? And all the best for the editing process!
The first book is in submission at the moment. I’m going to give it a chance to get picked up for traditional publishing, but I’m also not going to sweat it if that doesn’t happen. Self-publishing is a much different game than it used to be, and no longer an admission of failure.
Absolutely. Hope you’ll keep us updated about either books.
Oh Brava!! i am so proud of you, Alyssa. And still available for reading if the need ever arises. Xx
I was hoping you’d say that. 😀
Once I’ve let the draft sit for a little bit, I’m going to give it a quick continuity and mechanics pass, and then I would very much like anyone willing, who read Book 1, to give it a read.
With the warning that there’s a lot of heavy shit in this one.
w00t!! I’ll read any shit you write, girl!! Still have my email?
Should do. The one that starts with lilac?
You’ve sent to my gmail before. Look for that one.
Gotcha.
